For desert we had a wonderful Raspberry and Chocolate Ganache that was interesting, delicious and beautifully presented. Their grilled Sugar Cane Shrimp was marvelously prepared and tasted like a bit of Heaven. ![]() The Salmon Salad was fresh and imaginative, presented beautifully with flat bread and dipping sauce. Who expected to find gormet food in this little out of the way place. Kanab is the benefactor of their move as were we. Shon and Elizabeth Foster, both trained Chefs, decided to leave the busy city for a more rural life in which to raise their children. This great little diner is situated right on Main Street Kanab and presents the finest food in Southern Utah. And so it is that we lucked into a rare little treat. But alas and serendipitously, they were closed for the season. Their CFS was awesome and the gun slingin’ waitresses were a lot of fun to watch. I’d eaten there a few years back on the way to a hiking expedition to Cheyava Falls in the Grand Canyon. I had intended to eat another Chicken Fried Steak at the Frontier Trails Cafe. Set amid beautiful western scenery and fixed between Zion, Grand Canyon and Lake Powell, this little city is a great stopping off point for a bite to eat. Compared to other options in this town, this place is by far the best.Kanab, Utah is known for hosting the crews of the old Hollywood Westerns which were often filmed in the area. Getting a room here can be tough if you don't book in advance due to all those tour buses coming through. The rooms that are designated as "suites" have refrigerator and microwave. The AC gets freeeezing cold (that's good). Maybe those who aren't won't care so much. I can't stand hotels without counter-height vanities. Sadly the nice bathroom is adorned with an older lower height countertop. By mostly I mean new flatscreen with a ton of DirectTV channels, new bedding and newer furniture. The hotel has an older lobby and common area, but the rooms are mostly new. The HI Express is the nicest option available. See my review of the Comfort Inn if you want a comparison. The HI Express and Comfort Inn are about the only major chain hotels in town. Apparently a ton of tour buses come through here which makes for good business with all the local lodging establishments. Had a project in Kanab, and there aren't many decent options for lodging in this town. Overall an average Holiday Inn hotel, that provides a comfortable stay when visiting the area. ![]() To sum up, a reasonable place to stay while visiting Kanab. ![]() The channel selection for the TV was a little small, but I don't watch much TV anyway. The WiFi connection worked well and I was able to surf the WEB with no delays. Regardless, I was able to sleep soundly that night. My request for feather pillows went with no response, but I suppose that they only have foam pillows. The room was large enough and breakfast was standard. It is conveniently located on the main road that goes through the town. It received good reviews at Trip Advisor and the room rate was reasonable. The Holiday Inn Express seemed like a reasonable choice. The park is about an hour away from town and the accommodations at Kanab are priced more reasonably than at Springdale that borders with the park. I stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Express at Kanab before visiting Zion Canyon national park. ![]()
